Shenzhen woman tests positive for COVID-19
A woman who had come from Shenzhen, Guangdong province tested positive for coronavirus in Shanwei in the same province.
The 41-year-old woman, a worker at a supermarket in Shenzhen, returned to her hometown in Nantang township in Lufeng, Shanwei with her three children by bus on Aug 6, according to the provincial health commission.
She felt unwell in her throat on Aug 7, developed fever and diarrhea the next day and went to a hospital on Aug 12, where an infection was found in her lungs.
She was transferred to a hospital designated for treating COVID-19 patients.
People who had close contact with the woman received nucleic acid tests and were put under quarantine. By 4 pm on Friday, 3,184 people, including passengers on the same bus, medical workers in the hospital she went to and those living in her community received nucleic acid tests. From the 1,105 test results so far, only three — all her family members — tested positive but had no symptoms.
The provincial authorities have sent experts to Shanwei and Shenzhen to guide epidemic control.
In Shenzhen, residents living in the same building as the woman and all her co-workers at Hema Fresh supermarket in Shuibei Luohu district were put under quarantine and received nucleic acid tests. The supermarket and the woman's residential community in Shenzhen were disinfected and put under strict management.
