Village's homestay tourism efforts help improve the social welfare of local residents

BIJIE, Guizhou-Tucked away in the Wumeng Mountain area at an altitude of about 2,300 meters, Haique village in Bijie, Guizhou province, was once afflicted by poverty. The village has developed its homestay tourism and cultivation of greenhouse mushrooms to boost the local economy.

Haique has been lifted out of poverty with its residents' per capita annual income reaching 10,000 yuan ($1,440). The village has seen dramatic improvements in its education and medical care infrastructure as well.
