Hot mouth, cold feet, funny faces

At a quirky contest held in Changsha, Hunan province, on Saturday, competitors wolfed down spicy gluten strips while standing barefoot on ice cubes. Whoever ate the most strips within five minutes won the game.

The peculiar mix of cold feet and hot mouth drew exaggerated facial expressions from the contestants, which amused the audience. Zhang Haiyan from Leiyang city won the championship, after polishing off 48 spicy gluten strips.
