China firmly opposes hegemony and power politics, envoy says
China's envoy to the UN reiterated that China will always side with multilateralism and international justice.
Zhang Jun, permanent representative of China to the UN, said this at a Security Council high-level meeting on Climate and Security on Friday.
The ambassador said looking at today's world, some country's irresponsible and unjustified acts of unilateralism and bullying is causing greater danger.
"Should this go unchecked, international rule of law, equity, justice, equality and mutual trust will no longer exist, and the world will descend into absolute chaos. We must stand together and fight back," Zhang said.
No matter how the world may evolve, Zhang said China "will always side with multilateralism and international justice, firmly uphold the international order based on international law, reject hegemony and bullying practice, and oppose self-proclaimed supremacy and power politics."
Zhang said China will work closely with other members of the international community to build an open, inclusive, clean and beautiful world that enjoys lasting peace, security and prosperity for all.
