Zhang Yabo and Zhang Yazhao, twin brothers of post-1990 generation, graduated from university in 2014 and chose to return home to inherit the craftsmanship of ancestral fried dough twist production.

They helped their hometown in Shangqiu, Central China's Henan province, develop fried dough twist production as an industry with uniformed price, brand and standard and promoted sales online.

In 2018, the village lifted itself out of poverty by developing fried dough twist industry and all the poverty-stricken households moved out of poverty in November 2019.

"Now that the village has an industry and a collective economy, we feel we can make a difference in the countryside," Zhang Yabo said.
