Wuhan's Zhongnan Hospital ranks 2nd in COVID-19 research


Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, ranks as the second top healthcare producer of research on COVID-19 since the beginning of 2020, according to a recent report released by Digital Science, an international technology company.
The report shows Massachusetts General Hospital in the United States is the top healthcare producer of research on COVID-19, and Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University ranks third.
The reports also shows that Huazhong University of Science and Technology ranks as the second top institutional producer of research on COVID-19 since the beginning of the 2020, following Harvard University.
According to a report, "How COVID 19 is Changing Research Culture", as of June 1, there have been upwards of 42,703 scholarly articles published, 3,105 clinical trials, 422 datasets, 272 patents, 757 policy documents and 156 grants related to the disease. According to medical institute rankings done by renowned scientific journal Nature between 2017 and 2018, the Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University ranked as one of the top 10 Chinese medical institutes.
Since the outbreak of COVID-19, when Zhongnan Hospital took over Wuhan No 7 Hospital, Wuhan Fangcang Hospital and the Wuhan Leishenshan Hospital, it has provided 5,400 beds for treatment, and is the Wuhan hospital receiving the most patients during the outbreak.
In regard to the topic of COVID-19 prevention and control, academicians at Zhongnan Hospital have published more than 200 papers in English on various top global journals over the last few months.
