The inaugural ceremony was held on May 19 for Honeywell's emerging market headquarters and innovation center in the East Lake High-Tech Development Zone -- also known as Optics Valley of China -- in Wuhan, capital of Central China's Hubei province.

Honeywell is one of Global Fortune 500 high-tech companies and was one of the first multinational enterprises to enter China. Its high-tech solutions and products cover aviation, building and industrial controls technology, performance materials and the internet of things.

According to zone officials, it is the first Global Fortune 500 company to establish headquarters in Wuhan in 2020.

On March 20, Honeywell successfully registered an independent legal entity company in Optics Valley through remote processing, while none of its employees were yet in Wuhan.

Its newly established emerging market headquarters mainly deals with intelligent building technologies, performance materials and technological solutions for safety and productivity.

At present, there are already six or seven Honeywell projects under development in Wuhan, and among them, one will help Wuhan's schools to create a healthier environment and another aims to upgrade Wuhan's hospitals intelligently.

In addition, zone officials added that during the COVID-19 outbreak Honeywell donated more than 500,000 face masks to Wuhan, 3,000 air purifiers to 50 hospitals in Hubei and a series of fire safety systems to Leishenshan Hospital.

As of Dec 31, 2019, there were 130,000 market entities in Optics Valley, including more than 1,000 foreign-funded companies and nearly 100 global top 500 enterprises.
