Mainland records 17 new coronavirus cases


The mainland reported 17 new infections of the novel coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases to 82,918, the National Health Commission said on Monday.
Of the new infections, seven were inbound arrivals and all were in Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
The commission said the other 10 cases were local, with five in Hubei province, three in Jilin province and one each in Liaoning and Heilongjiang provinces.
According to the commission, 24 people were discharged after recovering on Sunday while the number of patients in severe condition rose by four.
To date, the death toll stands at 4,633. No new death was reported on Sunday.
In the past 24 hours, the commission reported no new suspected cases. In addition, 678 were discharged from medical observation on the same day.
It also revealed that 737,127 close contacts had been traced as of Sunday midnight.
Meanwhile, another 5,501 close contacts are still under medical observation.
As of Sunday, the Chinese mainland reported 12 new asymptomatic cases, along with 20 discharged from medical observation.
So far, a total of 780 asymptomatic patients infected with the virus are still under medical observation, 44 of whom were detected from inbound arrivals, said the commission.
By Sunday, 1,532 confirmed cases, including four deaths in Hong Kong, 45 confirmed cases in Macao, and 440 in Taiwan, including six deaths, had been reported.
