China stands ready to work with the international community, including the Czech Republic and Peru, to jointly respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, and it supports international coordination on macroeconomic policies to offset the impact of the epidemic on the world economy, President Xi Jinping said on Thursday.

Xi made the remarks in separate telephone conversations with Czech President Milos Zeman and Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra.

While speaking to Zeman, Xi mentioned the Czech Republic's donations of anti-epidemic materials to China at a critical time when the Chinese people were fighting the virus.

He said the country firmly supports the Czech Republic in combating the disease and will share with it epidemic prevention and control information and experiences bilaterally or through the mechanism for cooperation between China and the Central and Eastern European countries.

Saying humanity is a community with a shared future, Xi said China is willing to work with other countries to jointly curb the spread of the pandemic, cope with the challenges the epidemic brings to the world economy, and firmly uphold international fairness and justice as well as the basic norms of international relations.

Zeman commended China for its successful containment of the epidemic and its bright prospects for economic development, and he thanked China for the support and assistance it has provided to his country.

In the phone conversation with Vizcarra, Xi reiterated that China has been acting upon its vision of a community with a shared future for mankind since the COVID-19 outbreak.

Xi said China supports a global joint response and cooperation regarding the novel coronavirus and supports international organizations, including the World Health Organization, playing a leading role.

China highly values developing its relations with Peru and will work together with the South American country to advance their bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership, he added.

Vizcarra, for his part, said he appreciated China for the support and help it provided his country in combating the virus, saying that the pandemic shows that it is very important to build a community with a shared future for mankind.
