Lhasa, capital of the Tibet autonomous region, made positive progress in promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth in 2019, the city government said on Wednesday.

Huang Shuchun, deputy head of the city's statistics bureau, said the city's economy continued to expand, its economic structure was optimized, and the production in agriculture, animal products, fisheries and the service industry grew steadily last year.

According to the preliminary estimates of the bureau, the city's GDP hit 60 billion yuan ($8.5 billion) last year, an increase of 8 percent over the previous year calculated at comparable prices. That accounted for 36.4 percent of the region's total GDP.

The added value of primary industries was 2.01 billion yuan, increasing 8.2 percent; secondary industries jumped 7.4 percent to 23.61 billion yuan; and tertiary industries climbed 8.4 percent to 36.16 billion yuan, Huang said.

"Over the year, the region's total output in farming, forestry, animal husbandry and fisheries was 3.7 billion yuan. Their added value was 2 billion yuan, up by 8.2 percent year-on-year," Huang said.

Retail sales volume of social consumables was nearly 32.2 billion yuan, an increase of 9.1 percent.

With the city's imports and exports totaling 4.1 billion yuan (up 0.3 percent year-on-year), the total value of exports hit 3.44 billion yuan (up 26.5 percent), with imports at 664 million yuan (down 51.6 percent year-on-year).

The data also show that the city's rural per capita disposable income reached 16,216 yuan, and increase of 12.9 percent, while urban per capita disposable income was 39,686 yuan, an increase of 10.7 percent.
