Six new cases confirmed on Monday


With six additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 over the course of Monday, including three imported ones, the cumulative total of novel coronavirus infections on the Chinese mainland reached 82,836, according to the National Health Commission.
Of the case count, 1,639 are imported. There are now nine suspected cases on the Chinese mainland. Only one suspected case was added on Monday, an inbound arrival.
With an increase of 40 asymptomatic cases, including three imported ones, in the 24 hours ending Monday at midnight, 997 people harboring the virus but showing no symptoms are still under medical observation and 130 of them were imported.
No further deaths occurred on Monday. So far, 4,633 people have died of the pathogen.
Another two people exhibiting serious symptoms were released from intensive care on Monday, bringing the number of such patients down to 50.
It also said 648 patients are still being hospitalized, a daily drop of 81. Among the patients still under treatment, 552 are imported.
Of the 731,015 people traced as close contacts with the infected, 8,014 are still under medical observation.
Hubei province has reported no further confirmed and suspected cases on Monday. All patients have been released from hospital in the region that used to be China's epidemic hotspot. A total of 4,512 people have succumbed to the virus in the province.
The Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province have reported a total of 1,511 confirmed cases, including four deaths in Hong Kong and six deaths in Taiwan.
At the same time, 1,109 patients in these regions have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
