A flight operated by China Southern Airlines with 81 passengers aboard departed from Wuhan, Hubei province, for Chengdu, Sichuan province, a little before 8 am on Wednesday, heralding the resumption of passenger flights to and from the beleaguered city that was the initial epicenter of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Now that the Wuhan lockdown has been lifted, the airline plans to resume 48 flights connecting Wuhan with Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Zhuhai in Guangdong province; Haikou, Hainan province; and Shanghai.
