Beijing opened a bilingual account on WeChat to provide information about the use of traditional Chinese medicine in the fight against the novel coronavirus. The platform is designed to help foreigners, as well as Chinese living overseas.

The account, called TCM Online, shares a Beijing solution on COVID-19 symptom management and includes a briefing on China's use of traditional Chinese medicines, Gao Xiaojun, spokesman for Beijing Municipal Health Commission, said at a daily news conference on Thursday.

The account, which is presented in both Chinese and English, provides consultations with nearly 1,000 TCM experts and guides people to find Chinese doctors or medicines in foreign countries, Gao said.

He added that 157 service stations, 24 TCM clinics and 41 liaisons in foreign countries can provide related services.

TCM has played an important role in China's fight against COVID-19. It has effectively relieved symptoms, prevented deterioration, reduced the mortality rate, raised the recovery rate and boosted patients' recovery, according to experts.

Users of the account can also view video materials that show how to protect themselves at home, including guidance on protective measures for children and psychological adjustment methods.

The account was developed by the Beijing Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, 23 overseas academic organizations focused on Chinese medicine, TCM producers and companies specializing in trade and logistics.
