125 overseas Chinese return home from Italy

A chartered plane from Milan landed at Wenzhou Longwan Airport at 1:50 pm on Monday, returning 125 overseas Chinese and students studying in Italy who are from places such as Wenzhou and Lishui in East China's Zhejiang province.

The flight, CA082 operated by Air China, marks the first commercial temporary chartered plane from Italy since the European country witnessed an outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic.

All passengers had undergone anti-epidemic medical check-ups and are under quarantine from epidemic control authorities in Wenzhou and Zhejiang, reported China Central Television.

Wenzhou, which is the hometown of over 700,000 overseas Chinese, most of whom live in European countries like Italy and Spain, has reported no new confirmed cases for a consecutive 27 days.

Besides, all the patients within the city had been cured and discharged out of hospitals on Monday.

Local authorities in Zhejiang also announced on Monday that an international edition of the health code system has been launched to help track the health conditions of overseas Chinese returning to Zhejiang, as well as foreign students and foreigners residing in the province in a bid to combat imported cases of the novel coronavirus.

So far, a total of 31,000 international health QR codes have been granted throughout the province.
