Infant found dead in her home in Hubei
A one–and-a-half years old girl was found dead in her home in Xiaogan, Hubei province, on Saturday and police have taken away her mother, the only guardian, for investigation, according to a notice issued by Xiaogan government via its official Weibo account on Saturday.
Initial investigation found that the 29-year-old mother surnamed Deng has no record of mental problems, although her neighbors believed she is in an unstable mental condition.
Chengdu-based Red Star News cited one of Deng's neighbors surnamed Li saying that he saw Deng waving sticks toward passers-by for no reason on March 12. Another neighbor surnamed Huang was quoted saying that Deng once beat her for no reason when she gave Deng some children's clothes.
On March 13, staff members of the community committee noticed odor from Deng's apartment when handing out free daily supplies to each household. They reported to the police who forced into Deng's home the next day and found the dead infant, according to a notice issued by the community committee.
Police said inspections at Deng's home showed she didn't lack daily necessities during the outbreak. The case is under further investigation.
