Chinese paintings on exhibit in UK city
LONDON-Organized by the Confucius Institute at De Montfort University, a touring exhibition entitled Instant, Insight, Inscape featuring Chinese paintings has opened in Leicester, 160 kilometers away from London. The exhibition brought over 30 works by landscape painter Sun Jiujiang and flower-and-bird painter Wang Yu, and will run until Feb 29.
Ruan Shao, a representative of the Chinese embassy in Britain, affirmed the efforts of the Confucius Institute for cultural exchanges between China and the United Kingdom.
Starting from the DMU, according to Simon Bradbury, pro vice-chancellor of the DMU, one of the event's organizers, the exhibition will later travel to Newcastle University, the University of Sheffield and Coventry University, where the two artists will deliver lectures and workshops to promote cultural exchanges between the East and the West.
Adding a taste of eastern elegance in the Leicester area, the exhibition offered local residents a unique chance for close contact with Chinese traditional paintings, facilitating a better understanding of Chinese culture and fine arts for people in the UK.
