China Cultural Center officially opens in Kuala Lumpur

The China Cultural Center in Kuala Lumpur officially opened in the capital of Malaysia, on Jan 19. With the opening of the 2020 China-Malaysia Year of Culture and Tourism, the establishment of the Kuala Lumpur China Cultural Center opens a new page for enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples, deepening pragmatic cooperation, and promoting the development of China-Malaysia friendly relations.

More than 100 guests, including Zhang Xu, Chinese vice-minister of Culture and Tourism; Bai Tian, ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of China to Malaysia; Saraya bint Arbi and Dato' Yean Yoke Heng, deputy secretary-generals of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia, and other guests attended the opening ceremony.

In his speech, Zhang Xu, Chinese vice-minister of Culture and Tourism said the deep friendship between China and Malaysia dates back to ancient times. He said the establishment of the China Cultural Center in Kuala Lumpur is not only to implement consensus between leaders of the two countries, but also an important achievement in the development of bilateral relations in the new era, marking the two countries' humanities exchanges entering a new stage.

He said he hoped that the China Cultural Center in Kuala Lumpur will become a new window for Malaysian friends to understand China's outstanding traditional culture, better serve the Belt and Road Initiative, and create a better atmosphere for promoting mutual benefit and win-win between China, Malaysia and among ASEAN countries.
