President urges officials to persevere in duties

Editor's Note: President Xi Jinping held various meetings on Thursday in Macao. The following are highlights of what Xi said in those meetings:

To first chief executive of Macao SAR:

Xi asked former Macao chief executive Ho Hau-wah to give full support to the new leadership of the Macao Special Administrative Region.

Xi said that Ho laid a very good foundation for the Macao SAR during his term, from 1999 to 2009. Now, as vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Ho continues to make all-out efforts in the cause of "one country, two systems" and the country's modernization drive, Xi said, adding that the central government gives full affirmation to Ho's work.

The president said he hoped Ho will continue to pay attention to work related to teenagers and guide the young people in Macao to strengthen national consciousness, be more patriotic and pass down the love for country and Macao from generation to generation.
