Top political adviser calls for improving CPPCC special committees
China's top political adviser, Wang Yang, on Tuesday called for improving the work of the special committees of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee, to better play the role of the country's top political advisory body.
Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, spoke at a conference on the work of the special committees of the CPPCC National Committee on Tuesday.
There are now 10 special committees under the CPPCC National Committee, such as foreign affairs, ethnics and religions, and agricultural and rural affairs. These special committees have political advisors who have specialties in their respective fields.
The conference fully recognized the historical contributions and achievements of the special committees. The development of the special committees represent the CPPCC's active participation in national governance, which embodies the wisdom and strength of all participating units, the committees of the CPPCC at all levels and all members of the CPPCC.
The conference stressed that the work of the special committees should be strengthened and improved. While doing a good job in giving advice and making proposals, the committees should conduct in-depth consultations to build broad consensus in society and lay a social foundation for the implementation of major principles, policies, decisions and arrangements of the Party and the country.
