Wenzhou husband gets restraining order

A court in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, has issued a six-month restraining order to protect a man surnamed Wu from threats and harassment from his wife, surnamed Lin. According to Wu, Lin and her family had been verbally and physically abusing him. Lin, allegedly, smashed up furniture at Wu's parents' home with a hammer. The court said that under the law, women can be found guilty of abuse. China's first national law against domestic violence came into effect on March 1, 2016. The law marked a significant step forward from the country's existing legislation by legally defining domestic violence and extending legal protection to victims. Last year, 1,589 restraining orders were issued across the country.
