1 dead, 6 trapped in SW China mine gas outburst

GUIYANG -- One miner was killed and six others remained trapped in a coal mine hit by a suspected coal and gas outburst in southwest China's Guizhou Province Monday, local authorities said.
The accident occurred early Monday in Sanjia coal mine in the city of Bijie, trapping a total of eight mine workers, the city government said.
One miner was rescued and treated at a local hospital.
The rescue operation is underway.
