In recent years, Jingde county, located in the southern part of East China's Anhui province, has followed a path prioritizing green development and has explored unique methods to make good use of its natural environment in an ecological way.
In 2015 and 2017, Jingde county launched two comprehensive environmental protection programs with an investment of 1.86 billion yuan ($264.7 million) to preserve the green mountains, clear waters, blue sky and fertile farmland.
Measures were taken to tackle pollution sources. A number of high-polluting companies such as glass fiber and stone processing plants were converted or closed. Toilets were revamped, and facilities were built to properly treat household waste and sewage in the villages.
