According to the World Health Organization, the emitted smoke from cooking kills 4.3 million people every year, more deaths than those caused by malaria, tuberculosis and HIV combined, making it one of the most lethal environmental health risks.

The technology embedded into the Jet Flame was produced by Global Good, which spent one and a half years developing the technology.

David Evitt, the chief operating officer at Aprovecho Research Center who participated in the final design of Jet-Flame, said the product's life span is three to five years.

"We will work with users to quantify the performance in the fumes, as well as find the geographies (areas) and regions that are best for Jet-Flame. We also will continue to produce the product to make it applicable to a wider range of context," Evitt said.
