Centered on disability-led arts, the first Luminous Festival recently took place in Beijing. The festival invited the Dancing Wheels Company from the United States to perform their physically integrated dance repertoire.

China's Illness Challenge Foundation presented a play titled Rare Hug, performed by patients living with rare diseases and their family members. Apart from the performances, the festival intended to raise awareness about inclusive arts by including the China-UK Disability Arts Forum, an art exhibition by students with mental disabilities, and workshops on art therapy.
