The finals of the Super Nova Games, an online reality show where former professional athletes coach young idols to compete in sports games, kicked off Nov 1 at the Oriental Sports Center in Shanghai.

The three-day event will feature nearly 150 participants, including members from pop bands Rocket girls 101, R1SE, SNH48 and UNINE competing in sprint, high jump, swim, artistic gymnastics and other athletic activities under the instruction of former Olympic medalist Deng Yaping, former 100-meter sprinter Zhang Peimeng and other coaches.

The first season of the show notched 430 million views on Tencent's video platform last year, according to box office tracker Maoyan.com.
