Yanqing to build cultural park protecting Great Wall
Beijing's northwestern Yanqing district plans to establish a Great Wall cultural park at the Badaling section, to better protect the cultural heritage, according to a three-year action plan released on Saturday.
Yanqing will build a series of cultural landmarks such as the Old Town, Yongning Ancient City along the Great Wall, said Yu Bo, the district chief. In the next three years, the northwest district will achieve full coverage of the Great Wall protection system to protect its cultural relic resources.
"By 2022, the emergency rescue rate of the key Great Wall sections in Yanqing will reach 100 percent," he said, adding that it is also the first time that the capital carried out a comprehensive plan for the protection of the Great wall in recent years.
The three-year action plan of the Great Wall protection in Yanqing district has been formulated in keeping with the Beijing Great Wall cultural belt development plan and the capital's overall urban development strategies.
