A 5.2-magnitude earthquake hits Beiliu, South China's Guangxi

A 5.2-magnitude earthquake hit Beiliu of Yulin city, South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, on Saturday evening, according to China Earthquake Networks Center.

Sixty-six residents were evacuated in Yunlin by 8:00 am Sunday, Guangxi Emergency Management Office said. No casualties were reported.

The quake struck at 22:55 pm. Since the epicenter was located at the border of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and Guangdong province, many places in the two places felt the earthquake.

The local fire department rushed 81 rescue personnel to the epicenter as soon as the earthquake was reported.

According to the provincial Emergency Management Office, the local government dispatched officials to the epicenter to check each and every house for any damage and discovered 11 cases of cracks in houses.

After the earthquake, the China Railway Nanning Bureau halted nine trains on Saturday, but later the trains began operating again.

Experts at the provincial Earthquake Networks Center said the quake did not cause too much damage and further destruction was not expected.
