Guangzhou-Kowloon train halts service


China Railway Guangzhou Group Co Ltd suspended through-train service between Guangzhou and Kowloon, according to a statement on Tuesday.
Seven through trains departing from Guangzhou East Railway Station to Kowloon, along with eight trains from Kowloon to Guangzhou East Railway Station, ceased service on Monday.
Trains between Beijing and Hong Kong were changed to end and depart from Guangzhou East Railway Station in Guangdong's provincial capital on Monday.
"This means all the through-train services between Guangzhou East Railway Station and Kowloon in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has been suspended since Monday," the statement read.
On Sunday, the passenger train Z97 that departed from Beijing West Railway Station to Hong Kong terminated service at Guangzhou East Railway Station, while Z98 train that departed from Kowloon to Beijing changed to start from Guangzhou East Railway Station in Guangzhou's Tianhe district on Monday.
The statement did not mention the reason for the suspension for one of the busiest railways in China's southern region.
