Rural rejuvenation strategy a success

Progress has been made in carrying out the rural rejuvenation strategy since it was put forward two years ago, Han Changfu, minister of agriculture and rural affairs, said on Friday.
To date, all provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions on the Chinese mainland have completed their own plans for implementing the national strategy, and most cities and counties have also made their own implementation plans, Han said at a news conference.
With government support, a number of agriculture related industries focused local strengths have been emerging in rural areas across China, he said.
Han showcased Zhejiang as a key success example, where over the past year, the ministry has been trying to promote the achievements of Zhejiang province in developing its rural economy and improving the living environment in rural areas, so they can contribute to the overall development of rural areas in China.
It is expected that by the end of next year, notable achievements will be made in carrying out the rural rejuvenation strategy, he said.
The strategy, announced by the top leadership in late 2017, aims to reduce the gap between rural and urban areas and modernize China's agriculture and rural areas by 2035.
