Flowers in spotlight for Kunming expo garden night tour

The World Horticultural Expo Garden in Kunming of Yunnan province is building up a fairy-tale world of lanterns and lights for the celebration of the coming National Day.
With more than 60 groups of large-scale lanterns, 1,000 landscapes sculpted with flowers, and 8,000 neon lights, the park has become a new landmark for night tours in the city, attracting a flood of visitors, especially on Mid-Autumn Festival, which fell on Friday this year.
The lanterns will remain on show until the end of this year.
The lantern show displays the cultural elements of Yunnan province and traditional Chinese virtues, expressing good wishes for the prosperity of the country and the peaceful lives of the people.
Visitors can enjoy more than 1,000 sets of flowers and plants in various shapes. With large-scale triangular plum blossoms as the theme, the flowers and plants display positive meanings combining traditional and folk cultures as well as Yunnan's local characteristics.
It frames the beautiful scenery of Kunming with a sea of colorful flowers covering an area of 30,000 square meters, where the artistic flower landscaping and the gorgeous garden avenues offer a lovely contrast.
The expo garden will also host a variety of tourist and cultural events such as the Dunhuang exhibition, large-scale dinosaur show, a reunion banquet for thousands of people, world expo shopping festival and carnival.
