Li Zhanshu, chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, met with a delegation of the US-China Working Group from the US Congress in Beijing on Monday, including Co-Chairs Steve Daines and senator David Perdue.

Hailing the contributions the US-China Working Group has made in promoting the development of bilateral ties and exchanges between the two legislatures, Li said that the NPC is willing to strengthen exchanges and communication with the US Congress, implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state during their meeting in Osaka, and properly manage the differences and sensitive issues through dialogue rather than confrontation.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and also the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and the United States, Li said, adding that history has proved that cooperation is the best choice for both China and the US, and is in the interests of both countries and the world.

Li noted that China will unswervingly follow the path of peaceful development and pursue a win-win strategy of opening-up.

Daines said that the US-China relationship is one of the most important bilateral relations in the world. He added that members of the US-China working group are willing to step up their efforts to enhance the in-depth understanding between the governments and people.
