Kenya based Chinese firms invest over $75 million in social responsibility

He said companies across the globe, are expected to deliver financial performance and a positive contribution to society, benefiting customers and communities as well as shareholders.

"Only when a company converges its self-interest with the broader interests of the community, can it realize its vision for long-term growth," he said.

The ambassador said currently, more than 400 Chinese enterprises are operating in Kenya and have created about 130,000 jobs.

He said the companies have played an important role in accelerating the advancement of the Kenya's Big Four Agenda: universal healthcare, manufacturing, affordable housing and food security.

Wu called on the Chinese enterprises to follow the spirit of equality and cooperation, make more contributions to the economic growth by transferring skills, protecting environment, and supporting education to improve people's livelihoods.
