Pingyao intl photography festival to kick off in Sept

The 19th Pingyao International Photography Festival will be held in the Ancient City of Pingyao on Sept 19-25, according to a press conference held in Taiyuan on Aug 21. 

Themed around happiness and effort, this year's photography festival will be divided into six sections made up of 12 units.

More than 4,100 photographers from 31 countries and regions will display over 12,600 photographs -- including 4,644 pictures by 1,162 students from 103 colleges and universities -- in the UNESCO World Heritage Site. 

They will look back at the past and looking into the future of photography to honor the 180th anniversary of the invention of photography. 

The festival will also prepare a special image exhibition to mark the special occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of People's Republic of China.
