HANGZHOU - Mobile car-hailing platform Didi Chuxing has suspended part of its services in typhoon-affected regions in eastern China from Saturday to ensure travel safety of Didi drivers and passengers.

According to a company announcement, online ride-hailing, designated driving, cycling, motorcycling and cab services in cities of Taizhou, Zhoushan and Ningbo are suspended, with short-term rental and car-sharing services temporarily unavailable in the provincial capital Hangzhou.

Pop-up windows and pushed notifications on Didi's mobile app will remind its users of real-time weather conditions and travel safety as the platform continue to pay close attention to weather forecasts and announcements from local authorities.

The traffic management bureau of China's Ministry of Public Security has issued a warning on Friday, asking people to refrain from going out as Typhoon Lekima strikes.
