A delegation of 32 members from the Macao Special Administrative Region started their visit in Beijing on Monday.

The delegation, led by Pansy Ho Chiu-king, general secretary with the Global Tourism Economy Forum, will meet several officials and industry professionals during their three-day trip to help promote the campaign of shaping Macao into a world tourism and leisure center.

Ho said that it’s the first time that a Macao delegation has included representatives of major players in the region’s tourism industry. Also, the visit is of great importance as this year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of China and also the 20th anniversary of Macao’s return to the motherland.

She added that the delegation members will expound on the achievements that Macao has reached in the areas of leisure and tourism in the past 20 years during the visit.

“We are of great passion and confidence to build Macao into the world’s leisure and tourism center, and we also want some suggestions on Macao’s future development from mainland officials and industry experts during the visit,” she said.

The delegation members, according to a brochure by the region’s government, include figures and industry professionals in the areas of tourism, conferences and exhibitions, and aircraft.
