Police detain primary school headmaster accused of sexual assault
A primary school headmaster suspected of sexually assaulting several students has been detained by police in Huludao, in Northeast China's Liaoning province.
Two staff members at the education bureau in Huludao's Suizhong county confirmed on Monday that a man surnamed Wang, who was the headmaster of Shuikou Primary School in the town of Gaotai, had been detained. They also told the Beijing News that the headmaster of Zhongxin Primary School, which supervised Wang's school, was sacked in the wake of the allegations.
The Beijing News reported on Friday that a team of police from Suizhong is investigating the allegations against Wang. Police said the number of girls allegedly assaulted would not be revealed because they are minors.
Police said the case of the sacked headmaster of Zhongxin Primary School, who is surnamed Huang, will be dealt with after their investigation is completed, adding that the county's discipline watchdogs have joined the investigation.
