2.2 tonnes of liquid drugs seized in Anhui
HEFEI - Police in East China's Anhui province cracked down a drug case and seized 29 suspects, local police said on Friday.
A total of 2.2 tonnes of liquid drug named "papaya" were confiscated by police in the city of Wuhu after an eight-month investigation on the case.
In October last year, local police received a tip-off that a kind of drink named "papaya", which can make people extremely excited and addicted, was sold in bars and karaoke bars. Investigation showed that the drink contains gamma-hydroxybutyric acid (GHB), also known as the "date rape drug".
Further investigation showed that the drugs were manufactured in the city of Tonghua in the northeast Jilin province, and have been transported to Anhui and the southern Guangdong province for sale.
More than 100 drug users were caught. The case is under further investigation.
