Woman sentenced to prison for causing bus accident
A woman surnamed Liang, who was found guilty of threatening public security through a dangerous act, was sentenced to prison for three years and six months by the Pudong New Area People's Court in Shanghai on Wednesday.
According to the procuratorate of Pudong New Area, Liang had on Dec 24 last year gotten into an argument with a bus driver after she had missed her stop. Although the driver reopened the bus doors for her shortly after, Liang refused to alight and started accusing the former of being rude.
She later tugged at the steering wheel, causing the bus to collide into a nearby car. No one was injured in the accident.
Liang was arrested on charges of jeopardizing public security and putting the lives of others and public property at risk. She has also had her qualification to register for a household in Shanghai revoked.
