KUNMING - Police in Southwest China's Yunnan province have detained a drug trafficking suspect and seized nearly 39 kg of methamphetamine, local authorities said Wednesday.
Police in the border city of Lincang set up a checkpoint at a fork on national highway 214 on May 31 to conduct a public anti-drug operation.
At around 10:20 pm, police seized 54 methamphetamine tablets weighing 38.8 kg from an interior layer of an off-road vehicle.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
Yunnan, bordering the Golden Triangle, is a major front in China's battle against drug crime.
