BEIJING -- Beijing authorities have continued efforts to plant trees to improve the eco-system in the capital city.

According to the municipal forestation bureau, so far, 7.2 million trees have been planted over an area of 11,867 hectares, completing 77 percent of the forestation plan for the whole year.

Authorities have paid more attention to the effect and quality of forestation, with high technologies employed to save rainwater, improve soil quality and ensure the survival rate of the trees.

A work plan issued by the bureau also put forward specific measures to enhance efforts in bio-diversity, forest quality, soil quality, education about nature and water-saving.
