BEIJING - China had a total of 3,080 maternal and child health care institutions as of 2018, with an increasing number of beds for obstetric and pediatric departments, according to the National Health Commission (NHC).

The country has been continuously strengthening the construction of county-level maternal and child health care institutions, and almost every county has one currently, said Qin Geng, an official with the commission Monday.

From 2016 to 2018, the Chinese government invested 8.48 billion yuan ($1.23 billion) to support the construction of 561 maternal and child health care institutions, according to an NHC report.
