KINSHASA - More than 200 people are missing after a boat sank on Mai-Ndombe Lake on Saturday night in western Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), said local officials on Sunday.

There is yet no official announcement of causalities but local sources say dozens of people survived the accident.

A source from the naval forces of the Congolese army based near the accident location said overloading and lack of lifebuoys are believed to be the causes of this tragedy.
