Premier Li Keqiang on May 15 met with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Premier Li, noting that Armenia is China’s important partner in Eurasia, said both countries have a long history and brilliant civilization.

China is willing to deepen political trust with Armenia based on mutual respect, equal treatment and win-win principles, the Premier said.

Coordination between the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and Armenia’s development strategies will be intensified, he added.

The Premier further said that China supports its companies working with Armenia and will both expand imports of high-quality Armenian farm produce and increase technological cooperation.

He also said China expects peace and stability in the Caucasus region and is glad to strengthen communication and coordination with Armenia in international affairs.

Pashinyan said the Dialogue of Asian Civilizations is an important initiative, providing opportunities for involved parties to discuss the development of civilizations.

He added that China and Armenia have common interests, and Armenia will carry on the Silk Road spirit through active participation in the BRI.

Pashinyan also met with President Xi Jinping on May 14.
