At least 4 dead in Nigeria after train hit tricycle


LAGOS -- At least four people have died and others got injured after a train crushed a tricycle in Lagos, Nigeria's economic hub in the early hours of Tuesday, an eye witness told Xinhua.
A locomotive passenger train with more than 500 passengers on board hit the tricycle carrying at least five persons, Akeem Lasisi, a passenger on the train said.
The accident occurred at Iju Ishaga, a Lagos suburb.
Lasisi told Xinhua that emergency responders were at the scene.
The tricycle carrying passengers, according to Lasisi, had attempted to cross the railway when it got trapped and was eventually crushed by the locomotive train.
A publicity officer at the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) in Lagos refused to comment on the matter.
Bala Eljanah, the police spokesperson in Lagos, could not be reached on Tuesday morning.
