China seizes infringing goods worth 41m yuan in Q1

BEIJING - China seized infringing goods worth 41.05 million yuan ($6 million) in the first quarter, customs figures showed.

The infringement involved 4,612 batches of imported and exported goods in Q1, up 49 percent year-on-year, with 16.54 million items, the General Administration of Customs (GAC) said.

The administration also approved 2,714 applications for the protection of intellectual property rights in Q1, up 11.3 percent year-on-year.

Chinese customs has stepped up efforts to protect the intellectual property rights of foreign-invested enterprises through a special campaign to create a better business environment, according to the GAC.

In terms of cross-boarder e-commerce, the customs has comprehensively cracked down on bogus products both online and offline.
