Zhang Ming, head of the Chinese Mission to the EU, attended the concert with his wife.

Che Weimin, a minister counselor at the Chinese Mission to the EU, said in his opening speech: "The value of cultural understanding and people-to-people dialogue and exchanges are key elements for future sustainable cooperation. And the China Arts Festival in the EU is a sustainable mechanism."

The concert came just weeks after Premier Li Keqiang and EU leaders met in Brussels for the 21st EU-China summit, where they issued a joint statement, reaffirming their commitment to deepening their partnership for peace, growth, and reform.

Eric Philippart, a special counselor for the European Commission responsible for the 2018 EU-China Tourism Year, said the EU-China summit will bring benefits, and ties between China and the EU are boosted by music.

Ning Yuqi and Dai Yujun contributed to this story.
