Royal Brunei Airlines held a travel promotion activity at Mission Hills Resort in Haikou on April 21.

Chun Wu, an actor and pop singer from Brunei who is famous among young Chinese, was invited to introduce Brunei at the activity as the international brand image ambassador of Royal Brunei Airlines.

The event aimed to facilitate cultural communication and cooperation between China and Brunei, as well as attract more Hainan residents to travel to the Asian country.

Haikou Meilan International Airport opened a direct flight route linking Haikou with  Bandar Seri Begawan on Nov 23 last year, which achieved full coverage of all the 10 ASEAN countries in its aviation network, providing greater convenience for economic and cultural exchanges.

Royal Brunei Airlines operates the flight route by its A320 aircraft, which takes off from Bandar Seri Begawan at 10:25 pm every Monday and Thursday and departs Haikou at 3:00 am every Tuesday and Friday. The whole journey lasts three and a half hours.

To date, the air route has carried more than 10,000 passengers on 86 flights.
