SHENZHEN - Customs in Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong province, have cracked three gangs smuggling more than 2,400 tonnes of waste plastic, local customs said Tuesday.
The waste plastic was sent to Huizhou, Shantou and other cities in the province, according to the customs.
Waste plastic contaminates air, soil, and even underground water if not properly disposed of.
The customs said they would keep cracking down on waste smuggling, with help from environment and market supervision departments.
