Construction underway on Chengdu 2021 Universiade village
CHENGDU -- Construction work has begun on the athletes' village for the 2021 Summer Universiade in Chengdu, located at Chengdu University.
Covering an area of around 37 hectares, the Universiade Village consists of eight specific buildings, including apartments for athletes, service center, health center, administrative affairs center, international communication center, gymnasiums, aquatic center and the College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts.
In addition, construction is continuing on the tournament stadium, main gymnasium and ball game gymnasiums. Major transportation projects, such as a new expressway, are also underway.
The 2021 Summer Universiade was officially awarded to Chengdu, capital city of Sichuan Province, this March. The proposed dates for the tournament are August 8 to 19.
