Sudanese army to make important statement soon -- official TV

KHARTOUM- The Sudanese Armed Forces will announce an important statement soon, official Sudan TV reported Thursday.

The official TV cut its program and started broadcasting the national song.

According to eyewitnesses, military reinforcements are seen around the Sudan Radio and TV building.

The Sudanese capital on Saturday and Sunday saw large protests that ended with open sit-in before the Sudanese army general headquarters.

Since Dec 19 last year, Sudan has been witnessing popular protests over the deteriorating economic conditions and price hikes of basic commodities.
